The Nduaguibes In 2017

The Lord has continued to be faithful to us throughout 2017!  Its been another year of change for our family, and we are all growing.  It’s hard to believe, but we are in the middle of our fifth year back in Maine USA, after our six years in Hong Kong.  Alex and Chika have finished high school and are now both enrolled at the University of Maine at Orono.

Alex is in his Junior year and has a double major in mechanical engineering and computer programming.  His current dream is to finish at college, get a good job, and work towards owning his own company one day.  He has been blessed with internships over the summers and Christmas holidays. We praise the Lord for his deliverance recently when he got into a motorcycle accident and came away with a few broken fingers, even though he flipped over his handlebars and was thrust forward onto the pavement.  The doctor even said, “you must have an angel looking after you, it’s almost unbelievable.”

Chika is a sophomore and majoring in bioengineering.  He is enjoying having his own apartment with friends as he lives off-campus, and learning all about the responsibilities that come with such a move.  He has a great job on campus with tech support and is also part of a research project related to his major.  He is hoping to get an internship this coming summer.  He has volunteered two summers in a row at Soulfest, a week-long Christian concert event in the White Mountains, New Hampshire and it has solidified his desire to do something meaningful with his life to help those less fortunate than himself.  The Lord has given him a huge heart of compassion and it’s exciting to see!  He is currently sponsoring two children through Compassion International.

Henry has been working at Lonza pharmaceutical company for the last three years and has recently moved from manufacturing to research and development.  This means his hours are more standard.  He now works 7:00-3:30, as opposed to 12-hour days with a two week rotating schedule.  He is also busy managing our rental property, which has been a huge blessing for us here.  His passion is to minister in the local community and pray for people as he shares God’s love for them.  Last spring, he planned a two-week vacation to Argentina and Belize with Tamari.

It was our first trip to South America and we thoroughly enjoyed relaxing, checking out these new cultures, and eating lots of delicious food!

Tamari is in the middle of her second year of waitressing at The Lobster Cove (a seafood restaurant)  and also involved in children’s church leadership at Christian Life Church.  She is leading the preschool and toddler classes and gets energized by spending time with these beautiful children!  She is working hard at convincing Henry that the family should move overseas again for another block of time so that she can return to teaching in the formal setting.  Henry is feeling pretty settled in the house we bought a few years ago and trying to muster the energy that will be needed to uproot, move and get set up all over again.
Finally, we have added a daughter to our family.  We first met her two summers ago when she came to stay with us for respite care.  Her foster parents were going away and needed someone to take care of her while they were gone.  We spent those two weeks together and then the Lord opened the door for her to become a permanent part of our family.  She is very energetic, friendly, helpful, curious, and smart.  We are all adjusting to life as a family of five and having a daughter and sister around!

We certainly have so much to be thankful for as we enter into 2018!  Our prayer is that God’s love and blessings will totally overwhelm you all in this coming year.

Blessings,

The Nduaguibes

THE NDUAGUIBES IN 2016

The year found us living in our new home in South Berwick. We were previously living with Joni, my sister-in-law and Tamari’s sister, but moved into our current house in August 2015. At the moment, Joni is in the process of selling her house, and has moved in with us until she secures a smaller house for herself.  In addition, we have Julie, a cousin of mine from Nigeria, visiting with us.  We are doing well by God’s grace.

Happy Birthday Tamari!

Chikacha graduated from high school and gained admission into the University of Maine, Orono. He is studying Biotechnology Engineering, but also seems to have some special interest in Chemical Engineering.  He is doing well, and apparently the advanced placement courses he took in the high school are paying off, helping him to cope with the work at the university.

Flashback - Alex's Senior Year.
Alex is doing well as well.  He is in his second year.  He is pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was able to secure an engineering internship with the Capital Project unit at Lonza Biologics, Portsmouth this past summer.  The unit also offered him the opportunity to continue his internship during their current Christmas break. It has been a great experience for him, working with established engineers in the field.  This is the company that I work for.  I have been with Lonza since June 2014.

CHIKA EARNS HIS HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA

On Friday June 3rd, 2016, Chikacha graduated from Marshwood High School in South Berwick, Maine, U.S.A.  The ceremony was well attended and the weather was wonderful.  During his junior and senior years, Chika served as the class president among other achievements.

It is amazing to see how time flies.  Just yesterday, it seems, Chika was a little boy drinking from his baby bottle, but today has successfully completed his high school education.  He has been admitted into the University of Maine, where he will be studying Biomedical Engineering.

Congratulations Kacha!

On the 5th of June 2015, we attended Alex’s graduation ceremony at Marshwood High School, South Berwick, Maine.  It is amazing how time has passed so quickly and Alex has grown both physically and intellectually from our little boy to a handsome young man.

A YEAR IN MAINE

It is almost a year now since my family returned to Maine, USA from Hong Kong.  In a number of ways, it has been wonderful - Alex and Chika like their school and are making new friends; they have both taken driver's education and have obtained their driver's permit.  They are beginning to save for their first cars.

They have also been having other opportunities.  They both played American football in the fall of 2013.  In addition, Chika did wrestling and performed very well in it.  He also served as a page in the Maine House of Senate in February 2014.

Alex participated in their high school prom and liked it.

Also, Tamari and I are better connected with our local church and friends.

However, in other ways, it has been tough.  Tamari and I have not had full time-time jobs and have greatly "burned" through our savings.  We are still living with Joni, my sister-in-law, who has graciously accommodated us in her house.  That said, God has been helping us and the tide is turning for the better.

VISIT TO CANADA

Our family spent four days in Toronto, Canada on our way back to the United States.  It was our first visit there and my sister-in-law, Joni flew from Boston to meet us there.  Together, we toured a few places of interest in Canada including: Niagara Falls, the iconic CN Tower, Devil's pool and others.  I also went go-carting with Alex and Chika.  It was fun!
